About the AMTA/NCBTMB Sports Massage Certificate Program

A specialty certificate symbolizes advanced education and training in a particular massage approach or for working with a specific population. The AMTA/NCBTMB Sports Massage Specialty Certificate Program provides a solid foundational overview on the science of sports massage and settings for sports massage through online classes and is enhanced by a workshop featuring techniques and applications. The program culiminates in the NCBTMB Sports Massage Specialty Certificate exam.
The program provides newer massage therapy practitioners an overview of sports massage, while still being detailed enough to give veteran massage therapists a refresher on current science. Earn your full sports massage certificate or take individual courses to help you reach your career goals.
Techniques for Sports Massage Therapists Workshop
Receive hands-on instruction—including a shoulder injury case study—and tips to help you succeed in this specialty. With a focus on utilizing critical thinking in client assessment, this workshop will help you learn techniques, contraindications, session planning and other valuable information to take your sports massage career to the next level.
AMTA – Minnesota is proud to host John Combe on March 31, 2018 at the Hilton in Shoreview, MN. Registration and breakfast begins at 8:30 AM with class starting promptly at 9:00 AM. John Combe, LMT, BCTMB, is active in the sports massage community and has worked with many Olympic athletes. He was the 2014 Oregon LMT of the Year and the AMTA 2013 National Meritorious Award recipient. John is an AMTA Oregon Chapter past president and a past AMTA national board member. John has ran the 2015 Boston Marathon on behalf of the Massage Therapy Foundation.
We will end the day at 6:30 PM. Certifications and 8 ceus will be awarded upon completion. Lunch is included in ticket price. Networking social hour will be offered in the hotel lobby after the workshop. Feel free to stay and socialize with colleagues.
Registration is $199.00 for AMTA members, $249.00 for non-members. Taking this course in Minnesota saves you almost $100.00 off the price listed on the AMTA National website.

Til Luchau is a popular presenter and author of the bestselling Advanced Myofascial Techniques books. As a Certified Advanced Rolfer®, he is a former faculty member and Coordinator of the Rolf Institute’s Foundations of Rolfing Structural Integration program, as well as Adjunct Faculty in Naropa University’s graduate school of Somatic Psychology. His regular Myofascial Techniques column has appeared in Massage & Bodywork magazine since 2009, and his articles have been published in magazines and peer reviewed technical journals in Australia, Canada, Poland, Korea, Japan, the UK, and the USA. He directs Advanced-Trainings.com.

Massage Mingle with the AMTA
We typically have a series of “Massage Mingle” events, through out the Twin Cities each month, to simply have a social hour with colleagues. Come and network about anything from massage and your practice, to government relations efforts or any other issue you would like to discuss.
