Annual Business Meeting

February 24, 2018  –  St. Cloud, MN  –  11:00 – 4:30 PM


Join us for our 2018 Annual Business meeting, in St Cloud, MN at the Great River Regional Library from 11:00 AM – 4:30 PM
The meeting will begin, promptly, at 11:00 AM with check in and registration at 10:30 AM. Our day will start off with an keynote address from Cindy Farrar, massage therapist and life coach.  We, then, will hold our Annual Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony.  This includes committee reports on our Government Relations efforts, Sports Massage and Community Service Team updates, Membership to do’s and all things AMTA – Minnesota. We will be handing out Chapter Awards for MN Teacher of the Year, Chapter Meritorious Winner, Sports Massage Achiever, and Chapter Humanitarian. Your new board will, also, be introduced and will take their “Oath of Office”.
Once, we close the Business Meeting, we will have lunch catered in and provide some time for you to network with colleagues from around the state.
After lunch you have the opportunity to learn some advice from a small business lawyer,  tips on social media and marketing strategies.  We will, also, have a photographer on site for professional head shots.
This day is free to members of the AMTA – Minnesota Chapter. Non – Members are welcome to join us, for a $25.00 contribution to the State of Minnesota’s Government Relations Effort.

About the AMTA/NCBTMB Sports Massage Certificate Program

A specialty certificate symbolizes advanced education and training in a particular massage approach or for working with a specific population. The AMTA/NCBTMB Sports Massage Specialty Certificate Program provides a solid foundational overview on the science of sports massage and settings for sports massage through online classes and is enhanced by a workshop featuring techniques and applications. The program culiminates in the NCBTMB Sports Massage Specialty Certificate exam.

The program provides newer massage therapy practitioners an overview of sports massage, while still being detailed enough to give veteran massage therapists a refresher on current science. Earn your full sports massage certificate or take individual courses to help you reach your career goals.

Techniques for Sports Massage Therapists Workshop

Receive hands-on instruction—including a shoulder injury case study—and tips to help you succeed in this specialty. With a focus on utilizing critical thinking in client assessment, this workshop will help you learn techniques, contraindications, session planning and other valuable information to take your sports massage career to the next level.

AMTA – Minnesota is proud to host John Combe on March 31, 2018 at the Hilton in Shoreview, MN.  Registration and breakfast begins at 8:30 AM with class starting promptly at 9:00 AM.  John Combe, LMT, BCTMB, is active in the sports massage community and has worked with many Olympic athletes. He was the 2014 Oregon LMT of the Year and the AMTA 2013 National Meritorious Award recipient. John is an AMTA Oregon Chapter past president and a past AMTA national board member. John has ran the 2015 Boston Marathon on behalf of the Massage Therapy Foundation.

We will end the day at 6:30 PM.  Certifications and 8 ceus will be awarded upon completion.  Lunch is included in ticket price.   Networking social hour will be offered in the hotel lobby after the workshop.  Feel free to stay and socialize with colleagues.

Registration is $199.00 for AMTA members, $249.00 for non-members.  Taking this course in Minnesota saves you almost $100.00 off the price listed on the AMTA National website.

Massage Mingle with the AMTA

We typically have a series of “Massage Mingle” events through out the Twin Cities each month to simply have a social hour with colleagues. Come and socialize about anything from massage and your practice, to government relations efforts or any other issue you would like to discuss.
